Things to Know About Online Jobs
If you're like many people who are tired of the day to day
stress, hustle and bustle, you're probably wishing you could
find an online job instead of having to go off to work each
day. And working online is not a myth, many people do it
successfully each and every day. The myth unfortunately, comes
from the word "job".
You see, there aren't actually many employers or companies who
will hire employees to work online. There are some of course,
but they're rare and unusual. In fact, many companies who
you'd think do have employees working online only, actually
have large offices where those employees work online at. AOL
for instance, does not have paid employees who work from home
online.
Most online jobs are taken care of by independant contractors
and freelancers who run their own small home based business.
Their business is to provide services to other companies and
people, and their jobs are performed primarily online. Since
they're freelancers though, they do not get a weekly paycheck
from an employer. They only get paid from online jobs they've
been hired to do, and often those online jobs are temporary.
Some may last several months, but most last just a few weeks
and many last for just a few days.
Most freelance online jobs are not based on time though. This
means you don't have to report in at 8am, and be "on the
clock" for the next 8-10 hours. There are rare exceptions to
this rule of course, but for the most part online jobs are
project, or work based. In other words, if you get an online
writing job for a website, you're most likely required to
submit a certain number of articles each day or week. And it
doesn't matter how much time it takes you to create those
articles either. If you have them done in just a few hours,
you're able to do other things. If it takes you days to get
just one article done though, your schedule could become a bit
cramped and tedious.
This is an excellent reason to get freelance online jobs
though. Since you're not clocked into a certain employer for 8
hours a day, you can have multiple online jobs at once. And
this means you can be paid from multiple sources at once too.
And this primary difference is very difficult for some people
to grasp. Many people want to get an online job as an
employee, because they envision getting a steady paycheck
while being able to work online from home. They're afraid to
try freelance online jobs, because the income can be sporadic.
You may have a paying job one week, only to find it's ended
the next week and there are no others ready to be started.
Once you get the hang of things though, working as a
freelancer online can be quite lucrative. You can have
multiple online jobs at once, and end up making much more
money for much less work in the end. And as long as you
continue to spend some time each day or week getting new
online jobs from customers, you'll continue to have money
coming in too.
The most common online jobs people get are software
programming, website design or development, advertising
design, writing, and customer or technical support.
